Location

Our olive mill is located in the village of Gavalou (municipality of Agrinio) in the Prefecture of Aitoloakarnania which is inhabited by 1000 people approximately. Gavalou is found between the magical Trihonitha Lake (the largest in Greece) and Mount Arakynthos. In the low lying areas of the village as well as the mountainous ones, olive oil producing trees are cultivated by locals. Overall, in the Prefecture of Aitoloakarnania (the largest in Greece) more than 5.000.000 trees are cultivated. Therefore, Aitoloakarnania is included in the most powerful Prefectures of Greece in the olive tree cultivation. The olive producing tree types are: Koutsourelia, Koroneiki, kothreiki, Lianoelia, Rahati all giving high quality olive oil containing special characteristics given by the ground and climate conditions due to the eleven types of microclimates found in our Prefecture. Finally, the edible cultivar olive types are: Kalamon, Konservolia Agriniou and Karithoelia.
